Whether you’ve decked the halls well before Thanksgiving, or you’re finally getting around to winding fairy lights around that big oak tree in your front yard, everyone will agree that there’s just something magical about holiday home décor. The festive welcome that comes from a Eucalyptus wreath on the front door, that beautiful glow of the holiday lights illuminating your front walk and spreading warmth on a cold winters day, stockings lovingly stitched with your loved one's names hanging above the fireplace, and the fresh pine scent from garlands of greenery wafting throughout your home.
We love traditional color palettes that dominate Christmas décor and appreciate some of the non-traditional modern color schemes from the silvers and blues to all different shades of pink. This year, we decided to help spread a little pink cheer by partnering with six talented interior designers and home décor influencers on a festive Home for the Holidays Front Porch Challenge with a charitable twist. We asked them to design their holiday front porch décor around one of our pink ribbon welcome mats, part of the Carpet One Floor & Home Welcome-A-Cure initiative, and the results were simply stunning!
Our welcome mats are both philanthropic and stylish. Sales from each pink ribbon welcome mat support breast cancer research, with 25% of the purchase price donated directed to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation®. We offered our influencers an array of options; from sunny and trendy to cozy and hygge with plenty of frosty and wintery designs that boasted messages spreading seasonal cheer.
No two front porches were the same, and the competition was pretty fierce with the winning designer walking away with a $500-holiday gift card. Check out the fabulous front porch designs below and let us know which one if your favorite in the comments!
Spreading tidings of comfort and joy, Amy selected gray snowflakes from our Scandinavian collection for her pink ribbon welcome mat that perfectly matched her front door. Layered over a rug with natural fibers for added texture, Amy completed her front porch look with white and metal planters teeming with greenery and a simple but elegant wreath.
We didn’t know Heather’s mom was a breast cancer survivor when we reached out to partner with her on our campaign, and we were in tears when she shared her incredible story of survival. Her front porch design is a rustic, wintery wonderland of red plaids and blues. Selecting two pink ribbon welcome mats from our British collection, the front porch inspires a proper English cottage with complimenting plaids, a heap of firewood and a snowy wreath. While the warmth exuding from her home is undeniable on the back porch, reflected in the winter white faux fur throw and the inviting message on her pink ribbon mat.
Hayley welcomes the holidays with white, golds and greens in her front porch décor while spreading the message of Joy with her pink ribbon welcome mat. Completing the look is a multi-colored garland for that pop of color, a pine cone wreath, and gold and green trees from Home Goods. We love how Hayley embraces the holiday season using subtle yet cheerful decor.
Living in an RV while building her new home in Seattle did not stop Ashley from jumping on board with us this holiday season, and the results are adorable. Whimsy abounds in Ashley’s fun and non-traditional front porch décor, where she paired our gnome pink ribbon welcome mat from the Scandinavian collection with a trio of Wise Men gnomes. Completing the festive front porch designs are newly painted red Adirondack chairs, white and grey outdoor throw pillows, and white fairy lights wound around the railing. This front porch décor gives us all the holiday feels!
Jessica’s front porch design is crafty and colorful, complete with a DIY project heralding bold splashes of pink. The DIY ombre dip-dyed trees flanking the pink ribbon welcome mat from our Scandinavian collection are innovative, while the colors beautifully complement her front door. Opting for cascading stars instead of a traditional front door wreath, with strands of holly hanging from both lanterns, Jessica created a refreshingly modern and rustic front porch décor.
Laura recruited the help of her gorgeous pooch Maddie to complete her pink and green front porch décor, and we adore her furry assistant. Choosing our pet-friendly pink ribbon welcome mat Maddie wipes her paws and poses surrounded by a tower of beautifully wrapped presents, a mini-pine tree with shiny pink ornaments, and a traditional holiday wreath with pink patterned bow.
