At the recent International Home Show, we got a chance to get an up close and personal look at the show space designed by Evelyn Eshun. Evelyn is an Interior Designer based in Toronto, ON who enjoys brining innovation to her designs and solving her clients’ design challenges.
We asked Evelyn to give us a little bit of inside information on this beautiful, glamorous dining room.
BDMS: What was your inspiration for this space?
ES: My Inspiration was the pair of Peacock Canvas Prints which I got from Basset furniture. Peacocks exhibit a sense of glamour, elegance and tradition, the furniture, area rug and accessories were used to express a traditionally glamorous room with modern and whimsical elements.
BDMS: How does this room incorporate upcoming design trends for 2014?
ES: The use of gold and silver in a space is a trend which we will be seeing in 2014.
BDMS: How does the flooring integrate with/add to the overall design of the space?
ES: The dark wood look of the floor creates a perfect canvas for the light colors and sparkly elements. The general rule of darker floor equals added formality suits this space perfectly.
The flooring in this room is St. Lawrence by Earthscapes.
BDMS: What is your favorite piece in this room and why?
ES: My favorite piece is the leaning Venetian mirror. It is elegant and classic. It suits any space, whether hung on the wall or leaning on the floor - a perfect investment with longevity.
