Stylish And Classic Kitchen Decor

We've all seen those beautiful magazine rooms that inspire us to redecorate, renew and refresh our homes. We recently had the opportunity to get the inside scoop on the stylish and classic kitchen decor in this spaced designed by William MacDonald. Learn more about this fabulous kitchen. 

BDMS: What were your clients’ needs for this space?

WM: My clients have a large immediate family and an even larger extended family. They like to entertain a lot so the space needed to be open and have ample room for all.

BDMS: Were there any challenges to designing this space?

WM: Yes. This is a very large space so I had to work on making it feel more intimate which we achieved through, use of color , various textures and soft furnishings.

BDMS: Do you have any special considerations or requirements when creating a kitchen?

WM: When designing for a kitchen, materials have to be durable . This space in the home is used a lot so it also needs to be comfortable.

BDMS: How does the flooring play into your design?

WM: In this instance it had to be easy to maintain and hardworking….and also elegant. Not always an easy feat but this tile worked perfectly.

BDMS: What makes this room functional?

WM: The layout of the space makes it very functional. I've created a terrific work triangle as well as an abundance great work surfaces.

BDSM: Why did you choose this color palette?

WM: The colors are easy and practical but also stylish and classic. I rarely bother with trendy hues.

BDMS: What is your favorite aspect of this room?

WM: The eating area with a great view.

BDMS: What did you client like the most?

WM: Everything!
